While the 50 Kent section of the park goes into the development phase, NYC Parks has created a popup park in this spot that is now open.

1.8 acres of new lush green open space is to available to the public on Kent Avenue between N11th & N12th Streets in Williamsburg Brooklyn. It will be open on weekends 9am – 5pm and open at other times for programming and events. Activity on the grass must occur on a limited basis to ensure the sustained health of the soil which is the final part of this site’s remediation process and to be kept in optimal condition until the the construction phase of the permanent park begins.

Play mini frisbee golf or badminton (equipment provided for both on site), and take advantage of picnic tables with umbrellas. Sit and have a bite in the shade while taking in this vast new grassy expanse.

There is major room to spread out & lounge, plus there is a ton of programming planned such as yoga, movies, ultimate frisbee, stargazing, small circus and jazz music.

Check our events page for updates.

Ongoing now Hosh Yoga will be holding free All Levels Yoga classes in the Park on Sunday mornings throughout the Spring & Summer from 10am – 11am. More information here.

Hats off to Mayor de Blasio and NYC Parks & Recreation for making a bit more of BIP a reality.
