SUMMARY:Decomposition 101 Mycology Workshop
DESCRIPTION:As a follow-up to his FBIP webinar\, mycology educator Luke Sarrantonio (web – IG) will lead us through a hands-on workshop to discuss and demonstrate fungi’s role as decomposers.   Learn how to introduce mushroom mycelium (basically roots of the mushroom) and their many benefits in a garden. The fungus can break down wood chips to release nutrients for plants and produce mushrooms for years to come instead of adding other fertilizers.  Fungi are key players in the cycle of life\, why not work with them? \nMeet by the gardens just beyond the soccer field. \nIn the event of inclement weather\, we will be under the canopy atop of the park building green roof. \nFree registration required.

SUMMARY:Outdoor Art Workshop - Park Plein Air Urban Landscape Sketching
DESCRIPTION:Let’s celebrate being outdoors with an afternoon of in-person onsite sketching at Bushwick Inlet Park! \nWe will discuss the basics of a travel art supply kit\, framing & composition\, simplifying\, creating symbols\, using color\, and more. After a 15 minute lesson\, we’ll move to different spots within the park and draw thumbnail sketches before settling on a longer and larger sketch. \nThe workshop will be led by art instructor and scientific illustrator Monica Schroeder. \nFree. Required registration. \n*We will meet inside the BIP building at 86 Kent Ave.\, 11249\, and then work our way outside. \nOptional supply list – (a basic colored pencil set-up (including paper\, clipboard\, etc) can be provided). \nIf you would like to bring your own kit\, please include: \n\n5 x 8 paper or sketch book or larger\, 140 lb if using watercolors\n2B or HB pencil\nwhite or kneaded eraser\npencil sharpener\n\nOptional Additional Supplies: \n\npencils or watercolor pencils\n12- 24 color travel set of Watercolors\, brush\, paper towel\, water\, scrap paper\, tape\n6″ ruler
