DESCRIPTION:*This event has been cancelled due to forecasted heavy rain potentially creating unsafe conditions in the water* \nCheck City of Water Day’s website for other events happening locally and throughout NYC. \nShoreline Marine Life Discovery Workshop\n\nCommunity workshop to discover and explore marine life at low tide on the Bushwick Inlet Park jetty. \nCelebrate City of Water Day with Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park! Marine biologists from the Coastal Classroom will lead the community in workshops to discover and explore marine life at low tide on the Bushwick Inlet Park jetty. \nActivities will include a seining demonstration and organism identification\, marine food chains discussions\, water quality testing and talk about the human impacts to aquatic ecosystems in NYC. \nThe biologists will seine the shoreline for marine life. Participants 16 and older can assist them but must sign a waiver. \nEnter the park at 86 Kent Ave near N 9th Street and then find us near the riverfront. \nRegistration required.

The boat club will retrieve the cages\, we will count and measure the oysters\, see and engage with the other marine life cohabitating with the oysters and learn more about why oysters are so important to the East River ecosystem and why we support them! \nWe will be meeting at the East River waterfront in Bushwick Inlet Park. (Enter at 86 Kent Ave. [soccer field] and walk all the way back to the water.) Wear old clothes and plan to get a little dirty! \nSpaces are limited and registration is required.
