Come take in a skyline river sunset on the 86 Kent shoreline esplanade while absorbing great musical vibes from multiple genres. \nNext up in partnership with the Jazz Foundation of America we welcome the George Braith Quartet. \nGeorge Braith (born George Timothy Braithwaite on June 26\, 1939) is a soul-jazz saxophonist from New York. Braith is known for playing multiple horns at once\, a technique pioneered by Roland Kirk. Braith is credited with the invention of the Braithophone\, two different horns (straight alto and soprano) mended together by extensions\, valves and connections. Come take in a skyline river sunset on the 86 Kent shoreline esplanade while absorbing great musical vibes from multiple genres. \nNext\, Jackson Lynch & Friends brings us Ali Dineen with Feral Foster. \nAli Dineen is a poet-composer born and raised in Queens\, whose lyrics are poetic and deeply personal\, and highlight the intersections between personal experience\, larger histories\, and systems of power. Ali has performed at the Museum of Art and Design\, the Caramoor American Roots Music Festival\, the American Folk Art Museum\, and the Brooklyn Folk Festival\, among other wonderful venues\, and was awarded the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation Residency in 2020. Ali is also the music director for local puppet troupe extraordinaire The Boxcutter Collective\, arranges music and sings with Reverend Billy & the Stop Shopping Choir\, and is part of a duet with the inimitable Feral Foster. At the age of 12\, he had the honor of playing with his cousin Duke Ellington\, and has since shared the stage with greats like Dizzy Gillespie\, Roy Haynes\, and Dr. Lonnie Smith\, touring Europe and the Caribbean. Named after Billie Holiday\, he started playing tenor sax at age 14 in and around NYC with a group called the Fabulous Uniques. Craig later studied African percussion with Chief Bey and seriously switched over to a drum set around his 20th birthday. He’s toured with R&B/ Disco artist “Gary Toms Empire”\, Sun Ra (with whom he’s also recorded) and has since played an assortment of great jazz\, blues\, R&B\, and most recently gospel with folks such as Barry Harris\, Clifford Jordan\, Freddie Hubbard\, Gloria Lynne\, Lionel Hampton\, Tony Bennett\, The Boys Choir of Harlem\, The Allman Brothers Band\, Leslie West\, Geri Allen\, Marcus Miller\, Gladys Knight\, Eddie Palmeri\, actor Danny Glover (to name a few) and many\, many others! \nA big thanks goes out to NYC Ferry for their support of this series.
