SUMMARY:City of Water Day 2021 - Shoreline Marine Life Discovery Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate City of Water Day with Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park! Marine biologists from the Coastal Classroom will lead the community in workshops to discover and explore marine life at low tide on the Bushwick Inlet Park jetty. \nActivities will include a seining demonstration and organism identification\, marine food chains discussions\, water quality testing and talk about the human impacts to aquatic ecosystems in NYC. \nThe biologists will seine the shoreline for marine life. Participants 16 and older can assist them but must sign a waiver. \nFor participants not fully vaccinated a face covering is required. \nPlease join us! Sign up here. \nEnter the park at 86 Kent Ave near N 9th Street and then find us near the riverfront. \n

DESCRIPTION:This Summer FBIP brings music to the beautiful waterfront in Bushwick Inlet Park with our first Summer Music in BIP series. As life is starting to look much brighter come take in a skyline river sunset on the shoreline esplanade while absorbing great musical vibes. \nNext up up in partnership with El Puente CADRE we welcome BombaYo! \nBombaYo ignites the ancestral rhythms of Bomba\, an African derived music and dance tradition developed in Puerto Rico. The synergy of call and response singing\, drumming and dance provide the foundation for a dynamic interplay between the solo drummer and dancer. BombaYo stirs the soul in a way that only music and dance can to uplift and celebrate our deeper humanity. BombaYo creates an intergenerational and participatory experience that honors people of all ages and abilities. \nA big thanks goes out to NYC Ferry for their support of this series. We thank New York City Parks & Recreation\, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and North Brooklyn Parks Alliance for their support as well. \nPlease join us!

As life is starting to look much brighter come take in a skyline river sunset on the shoreline esplanade while absorbing great musical vibes. \nNext up in partnership with the Jazz Foundation of America we welcome the George Braith Quartet. \nGeorge Braith (born George Timothy Braithwaite on June 26\, 1939) is a soul-jazz saxophonist from New York. Braith is known for playing multiple horns at once\, a technique pioneered by Roland Kirk. Braith is credited with the invention of the Braithophone\, two different horns (straight alto and soprano) mended together by extensions\, valves and connections.Braith is featured in a mosaic in the 72nd street station of the Second Avenue Subway in the New York City Subway system. \nA big thanks goes out to NYC Ferry for their support of this series. We thank New York City Parks & Recreation\, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and North Brooklyn Parks Alliance for their support as well. \nPlease join us!
