SUMMARY:Biology/Art Instruction - Wildlife of Bushwick Inlet: Watercolor & Oil Pastel
DESCRIPTION:Bushwick Inlet is a small waterfront area along the East River just north of Bushwick Inlet Park. Despite its small size\, it is home to a surprising number and diversity of birds\, mammals\, crustaceans\, fish\, and much more. \nThrough a 15-minute slide show we’ll explore some of its natural wonder\, following the food chain of wildlife down to beautiful and mysterious plankton. \nThis is followed by a brief tutorial on using watercolors and oil pastels. \nYou’ll have two relaxing hours to create your own artwork design or follow a guided art project. \nNo experience necessary. \nMaterials include watercolor\, 9″ x 12″paper\, oil pastels\, a transfer to trace. \nTaught by Monica Schroeder\, scientific illustrator & kayaker. monbertkayak@gmail.com \nLight refreshments will be provided. \nRegistration required. \n* Please register only if you plan to actually attend. The class size is small to ensure an intimate hands on learning experience. \nChildren 14 and over (high school students) are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
