As 2025 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what this community made possible at Bushwick Inlet Park. Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, partners, sponsors, and supporters, this year was defined by connection, care, and meaningful progress — and the park continued to grow as a greener , more vibrant, and more welcoming space for our neighborhood.
Together, we hosted nearly 100 in-person events, including four Summer Music Series concerts, 22 education programs, 71 gardening and stewardship days, and three fundraising events. More than 1,390 neighbors joined us at the waterfront, while volunteers contributed an incredible 2,200 hours of hands-on care — the equivalent of 44 full-time work weeks dedicated to maintaining and restoring the park. Across the site, volunteers pulled 300+ bags of invasive weeds, spread loads of mulch, and transformed spaces like 50 Kent’s Planter 10, replacing overgrowth with native plantings that now support birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.
Beyond programming and stewardship, 2025 also marked important momentum toward the park’s long-term future. We continued to advocate for public space for public good. With the Motiva section of the park set to open in 2026, we are closer than ever to reconnecting our community with the full Bushwick Inlet waterfront.
While numbers help tell the story, the true impact of a park can’t be measured. It lives in the laughter on the lawn, the bird songs at sunrise, the conversations on benches, and the quiet moments people come here to breathe, gather, and feel connected. None of this happens without the people who show up — week after week, season after season — to care for this place and for one another.
As we look ahead to 2026, we’re excited to build on this momentum and continue working toward a world-class, resilient waterfront park for everyone.
None of this happens without the dedication of our volunteers, partners, sponsors, and supporters. Thank you for showing up, caring deeply, and believing in the power of public space. We can’t wait to keep growing together.
Cheers to making 2025 a year to be proud of.
With gratitude,
Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park
