The inspiration for this class is based on our local community gardens and parks and the plants that are found there. Llubav is a member of the Java Street Community Garden in Greenpoint, down the road from Bushwick Inlet Park, in northern Brooklyn, NY. The plants from her plot there are often the subjects of many of her paintings and greeting cards.
She will share her tips and techniques in creating her beautiful and whimsical designs. We will hand paint on different types of papers using a mix of tempera, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, crayons and colored pencils (or whatever else you might have on hand). Once we have created a mixture of colorful and textured raw materials, we will then cut and make shapes which will be glued to a larger sheet of paper or cardstock to create a unique and playful collage.
Flower Templates which could be printed will be included in the reminder email for those who prefer to follow along: creating your own imaginary garden or design is encouraged.
No experience necessary. * Registration required. *
