Dear Park Friends,

There are such good reasons to support your local open space friends group at Bushwick Inlet Park.

Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park runs on 100% volunteer energy and your donations!

FBIP is a prime source of community engagement.

Our newly created gardening committee revitalized 3 gardens through major bouts of weeding and putting 800 plants & shrubs in the ground. We also helped remove and replace fencing by the shoreline exposing its amazing beauty and opening it up to direct access. Help us continue these efforts in the coming year with resources to purchase more plants, tools and supplies.

Research Oysters in Bushwick Inlet. Together with the Billion Oyster Project, NY Harbor School and the North Brooklyn Community Boathouse, the project to study the reestablishment of oysters in the Inlet continues several times throughout the year with citizen scientists examining oyster cages and the marine life teeming within. Underwriting this program works to inspire youth to engage with nature and the environment.

Bringing vibrant programming to the park.

Music by the shoreline, environmental education opportunities such as seining for sea life in the East River, art workshops and seminars on designing open space for resiliency & sustainability in the face of climate change. With your help we can bring musicians, teachers and experts to lead these events.

Proposed MTA site with tower rendering

Rendering of MTA site with private tower on the bank of Bushwick Inlet.

Relentless advocacy for Bushwick Inlet Park!

We have not rested on our laurels. FBIP continues to strongly push the City to fund completion of the park’s development. We also are working hard to pressure the MTA to withdraw a request for proposals for dense private development on the northern bank of the Inlet. Covering administrative costs such as printing and creating outreach materials is key to sustaining these campaigns.
